"Happy 30th!"

To be married for thirty years
To love each other thru joy and tears
To stay together thru the good and the bad
Means more than you know Mom and Dad

Though it may seem we don’t really care
That you’re committed to each other we are aware
You’ve made it through when it seemed too tough
All the while managing to teach us stuff

So when we seem to hate you or each other
It’s because we’ve forgotten God gave you Father and Mother
To us because he knew what we needed more than we ever did
Happy 30th Mom and Dad, I’m proud to be your kid

"Prose"

A-b A-b the poem goes
Who knows what’s left to say
Can this life be captured in prose
Maybe we’ll know someday

"The summer sun"

Oh the warmth of the summer sun
Not by many joys to be outdone
Laying in the grass oh so fun
I wish instead of ending the summer had just begun

"The Gift"

God let me see the gift you gave me
In the time with Bekah that I spent
The worth of it all let me see
Now that its came and its went

God let me see the gift you gave me
Where I'm at in this painful part
In the breakup of what I thought was meant to be
Remind me that you still hold my heart

God let me see the gift you gave me
In the ability to move on if it's of you
And in your timing show me who's meant to be
But first let me rest in you God just and true

God let me see the gift you gave me
The gift of Bekah's love for a while
And let us both move on if its not meant to be
Give us the ability to find love and joy in another's smile

God thank you for the time I had
Thank you for directing my steps
Give me your joy and make me glad
May I live for you without regrets

"What lies herein?"

 What will this poem contain
Merely but words on a page
Or perhaps something more
Perhaps the words of a sage

Is this the writing of a man insane
Or are these words here true
Will to God be given the glory
Or to a mere man with years but a few

If the former than this poem herein is wise
But if the latter than please despise
For no one deserves what to only God is due
For such claims are but only lies

This poem ends here
But not without the intent
Of making God more dear
For giving God glory is always time well spent

"Life's direction"

Do you know where you’re going
Do you follow the winds blowing
Or do you plan it all to a T
Knowing exactly what you plan to do and be

Neither is wrong yet neither is right
What counts is keeping God in sight
Following God’s word and leading
Thru consistent practice, prayer and reading

Some worry for they can’t do everything they’ve planned
Others because they have no direction and life is bland
But more important than anything on which your time is spent
Is the question of is it for God, and what is your real intent

“But a moment”

Tick tock tick tock
The sound of a clock
Guarding times passing
With seconds amassing

Future’s present after past
Time rolls by o so fast
Are the moments cherished
Or do you pass them by perished

But only one life do you get
So live for God without regret
For when the present is thru
It’s too late to ask for the past’s redo
